Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is Life Coaching?

A. Good question! I have answered this question in more detail on this page. Feel free to check it out!

Q. What is Life Coaching not?

A. Life Coaching is not therapy. It is not a replacement for your doctor. Coaches do not diagnose or treat you for anything, or take the place of your healthcare professional(s). To read my Disclaimer, please click here.

Q. Does Life Coaching actually work?

A. Life Coaching DOES work, but it is work. I don’t say that to scare you away, but I do want to point out you need to be all-in to reap the full benefits of coaching. How do you know if you’re ready to be “all-in”? Ask yourself: On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being “Nope!” and 10 being “Yes sign me up yesterday!”, how much do you want to see a change in the area of your life where you feel stuck?

If your answer fell in the 8-10 range, coaching may be a good fit!

If you want it, but you need to know if coaching really works before you commit, I suggest booking a free, 1-hour breakthrough session with me. A breakthrough session gives you a glimpse into what we would be doing as coach and client, and it gives you a chance to see if coaching resonates with you.

Q. How is Coaching Different from Therapy?

A. Another great question. I invite you to think of it like this… Therapy helps us uncover and process the “junk” that holds us back. This may be from our past or our present, and sometimes clearing away that clutter needs to come before coaching. Life Coaching starts where we are now, and helps us go forward from that place. If you have major life stuff in your past or present you need to process, then therapy may be a good choice for you. If you have accepted what has happened in your life and you are looking for some help moving forward to what you long for, then coaching may be a good fit.

Q. If I sign up for a free breakthrough session, am I going to feel guilted into signing up to be a client?

A. Nope! You are under no obligation to become a client at the end of a breakthrough session, and the last thing I want is for you to feel uncomfortable. We can talk about the program I offer at the end of the breakthrough session, but if you’d rather not, that’s okay! We’ll just come up with a couple of action steps for you and I’ll give you the websites of a few other coaches you can look up to see if they would be a better fit for you at this time.

Q. Do you coach children and/or teens?

A. I do coach adults (18 and older) only at this time, but if you are looking for a coach for your child, feel free to contact me! I will be in touch with the names and websites of some coaches I graduated with who coach children and teens.

Q. How did Laughing Cloud get its name?

It has to do with a little story I wrote. The basic idea to the Laughing Cloud name is that, instead of having a little crying rain cloud over us, we want to have the opposite – maybe a big laughing cloud? Maybe something cheery and glowing? Maybe it isn’t a cloud at all – maybe it’s what’s hiding at the heart of the bright Laughing Cloud that we’re looking for. Take a close look at the Laughing Cloud logo above to see what I mean.
